Joining as a coloured belt

It is not unusual for to join the Young Tigers club after having trained in a karate club elsewhere. Furthermore the club will not object if a student wishes to train with another club as well as our own.

Students must apply for membership with our governing karate association before being allowed to join in our classes. This is for insurance reasons amongst others.

Once becoming a member, most students with coloured belts can join a class that is appropriate for their particular level or grade.

Q: I recently joined as a coloured belt and was wondering when I can be examined for my next belt?

A: The short answer is "It may take a while"

This is because there are often slight differences in the testing and examination requirements between one karate school and another. It is quite common for students to take a while to adjust to the syllabus especially if joining after a period without training.

Among other things karate is about improving ones character as well as ability so please be patient.
